Healthcare Industry Veteran, Dr. Jeffrey Rideout, Joins
Certify as Chief Strategy Officer

San Jose, CA – March 3, 2009 Certify Data Systems, Inc. announced today that Jeffrey Rideout, M.D., has joined Certify as Chief Strategy Officer.  In this position, Dr. Rideout will help guide Certify’s overall strategy and product development efforts.  Certify is a provider of innovative products and solutions that allow different systems to exchange health information, improving patient care, lowering costs and enhancing revenue.

“The time is right for practical and cost-effective solutions to the challenges of healthcare information exchange,” said Dr. Rideout. “While the recent focus and federal funding on electronic health record adoption is important, it doesn’t solve the fundamental problem – getting clinical information across the various silos and islands of current non-interoperable health information systems.  Certify solves for that, and does so in a way that respects physician office work flows and limited capital budgets.”

Dr. Rideout was most recently Chief Medical Officer for Health Evolution Partners, a healthcare private equity firm. Previously, he was the global leader of healthcare division for Cisco Systems Internet Business Solutions Group.  As the leader of Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group Healthcare Practice, Dr. Rideout worked with healthcare and public sector leaders to help them use technology to accelerate transformation of the healthcare industry.  He also served as Cisco’s Chief Medical Officer. Prior to that, Dr. Rideout was Chief Medical Officer and SVP for Blue Shield of California.  Additionally, he was a member of the National Advisory Council for the Robert Wood Johnson/IHI Pursuing Perfection grant program for excellence in healthcare delivery.

“Jeff’s credibility and knowledge of healthcare financing, delivery and healthcare IT is an enormous asset to our company,” said Marc Willard, founder and CEO of Certify Data Systems.  “As a physician executive, Jeff has led national payers, healthcare systems and international technology companies in their efforts to improve the cost and quality of healthcare in the United States.  The combination of Certify’s technology and Jeff’s experience will ensure the kind of impact Certify knows it should have in addressing the challenges of healthcare information exchange.”

Dr. Rideout is a board-certified internist, completing his residency training at University of California, San Francisco. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, an assistant clinical professor at UCSF and a lecturer at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.  He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his undergraduate degree from Stanford University. He also holds a master’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
