| Our unique technology and approach to clinical information exchange
Certify enables connectivity between hospitals and physicians in a manner that is uniquely easy to deploy, scale, manage and support. Certify employs sophisticated, proprietary technology that is fundamentally different from any other solution available today. The Certify solution simplifies the time-consuming, resource-intensive and difficult process of interfacing with physician EMRs.
Distributed Master Patient Index (dMPI)
Every one of Mrs. Smith’s doctors’ Electronic Medical Record (EMR) uses a different patient ID for her, and none of them matches each other, nor do they match the ID used by the hospital. Matching these patient IDs has been a resource-intensive hurdle for interoperability solutions. A hurdle Certify clears with our distributed Master Patient Index (dMPI)a fast, inexpensive, and easy-to-use tool that automatically matches each patient’s records across different systems. As opposed to a typical system, which forces users to match patients using a laborious, non-alerting EMR HL7 queue, our dMPI’s intuitive, self- alerting user interface and workflow requires very little training and even less effort. Designed with feedback from Medical Record Managers and Physicians, it streamlines the insertion of results and preparation of orders. Only Certify offers a dMPI in healthcare interoperability.
HealthDock Appliance
What is an appliance and how does it simplify healthcare messaging and virtually eliminate the need for support and maintenance? Unlike a conventional PC, which runs lots of different programs focused on many different tasks, an appliance is a product built for a single purpose. TiVo® devices or cable boxes, for example, are appliances built for a very specific purpose: displaying media. They require little input from the user and run on their own. Similarly, the HealthDock is designed with a single purpose in mind: securely delivering healthcare messages. Like TiVo®, the HealthDock’s automated back-up, software control, and maintenance are done behind the scenes, while healthcare messages are delivered reliably. And, like TiVo®, the HealthDock is protected from viruses, hackers, or other threats to security. Certify’s HealthDock reliably delivers critical clinical messages, and eliminates headaches like software installation, conflicts and updates.
HL7 Normalization
In response to internal clinical demands over time, every hospital system develops its own HL7 “flavor”. To communicate with outside systems that use a different “flavor” or HL7, hospital IT departments have had to parse, scrub and transform their HL7 messagesan impractical practice, at best. Certify changes that. Automated routines allow the hospital to send their unique HL7 message structure to Certify’s Gateway for processing into an HL7 structure that is ready to be used by all cross enterprise healthcare applications that request a feed. This unique automated process saves valuable time and money.
EMR Enhanced Message Formatting
Ambulatory EMR systems require certain fields and flags to be set to ensure that the clinical HL7 message is received and displayed correctly in the physician’s EMR patient folder. To connect hospitals with physician offices, the EMR vendor (or vendors, if different physicians use different systems) must create a custom interface for the hospital sender to ensure that those HL7 fields and flags are correctly set. Not with Certify. Instead, Certify creates a message structure to exactly match each practice’s ambulatory EMR specifications. This dramatically speeds up the integration and lowers the cost for all parties involved. Certify effectively simplifies the interface between the hospital and each practice.
Bi-Directional Platform
Certify’s platform was designed from the ground up to deliver bi-directional messages. And because our technology is built on the most advanced Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), we are not reliant or constrained by other vendor’s architectures. Innovations like the distributed Master Patient Index (dMPI), HL7 Normalization and EMR Enhanced Message Formatting ensure that all recipients will receive the correctly structured message. Plus, the Certify platform is XML-enabled, and uses many of the elements required to support the generation of orders and Continuity of Care Records (CCRs), so we’re ready to support your future needs, as well. Years of R&D have ensured this platform is not a Band-Aid for clinical messaging. Rather, it is a true interoperability platform that evolves as our clients’ needs do.
